Next step in my road to a career.

Next step in my road to a career.

After much research and understanding of a potential career.

I found my myself extremely interested in Art Therapy, to become this I cannot just finish and get my degree in Fine Art but will have to undertake another qualification. I will have to complete an MA in Art Therapy. I looked into various Universities offering this degree and it is rather scarce only a handful have the MA. Without the MA however I cannot become an Art Therapist, as it is required by the (BAAT) The British Association of Art Therapists. This is watchdog that makes sure every person working in this field is qualified for the role.

The reason I chose Goldsmiths University is because it is known to have a very strong art department that would allow me to further my knowledge and practice in Art. This then would allow me to give knowledge and insight to a patient in the future. I would also go on to learn therapy, theories of therapy and undertake some of my own therapy.

Goldsmiths is also reasonably local and it has a vibe and atmosphere that I find captivating it gives off an image of creativity and excitement.

I do believe unless you have strong desires and ambitions you will never fulfil them. So I have quite the task on my hand but I look forward to the future and the challenge.

3D Anaglyph Patterns/Abstraction

3D Anaglyph Patterns/Abstraction

Now I have fully grasped the concept of 3D anaglyph photography I have decided to make my work personal. I was doing work based on abstraction in three dimensions, however I found that I reached a limit where there was nothing personal to it.
I started to think how can I make my work personal and this is when I discovered ‘Art Brut’ or otherwise known as ‘Outside Art’, where self taught artists work spontaneously without influence from the outside world. These artist generally have some form of mental illness.

This was very intense to discover as I suffer from bipolar disorder and decided then to work spontaneously but then also to use what I have learned to perfect a kind of self portrait of my mind. To put my emotions onto canvas and my mental state and then digitally manipulate the images to create a final image. These all show different mental states. This image shows me on a particularly good day and slightly manic, however look at my other images and you will get a different sense of the pole changes in moods.

My First Wedding photographing.

My First Wedding photographing.

Asked by a close childhood friend if I would take some photographs whilst at his wedding,
never done anything like this before. So practice and experience make perfect.
Not something I intend to do for the future but I could see myself doing it occasionally.
Gave me the chance to be professional with my camera and focus on something particular.
Here is one of my favourite images. This could become a good part time business proposition. However the hours and editing are hectic, I see why pro’s find weddings to be a challenge. Congratulations to the happy couple Kris and Amber.
